garment making

I have had the opportunity to make a range of garments from costume pieces to fashion items. I have a wide knowledge of both pattern-cutting and draping techniques and have had training on a number of industrial machines.

Book of Dust: Tilda Vassara

I made the dress for the character of Tilda Vassara in the Richard Burton Theatre Company’s production of Book of Dust. Designed by Amy Lewis, I made the Alexander McQueen-inspired dress with a compilation of traditional pattern cutting and draping.

Alongside the traditional sportswear pieces I made for my graduate collection, I also designed and made a 1920s-inspired bias-cut jumpsuit. As well as the natural stretch provided with the bias-cutting I added a stretch gusset and adjustable hem to ensure ease of movement for the dancer.

Die Vögel: The Hoopoe

For my conceptual project for the opera Die Vögel, I realised the costume for the character of The Hoopoe. With a backstory in Greek Mythology the costume and character design took the form of a grotesque featherless man-bird.
